Had FanDuel and DraftKings merged, it would’ve created less options for sports bettors. When the federal sports wagering ban was lifted, the market place then had two major companies competing which leads to more competitive odds for consumers. In 2016, Draftkings and FanDuel planned to merge, but the Federal Trade Commission blocked the merger which was good for sports betting consumers in the long run.
FanDuel was founded in 2009 by Nigel Eccles, Lesley Eccles, Tom Griffiths, Rob Jones and Chris Stafford as a Daily Fantasy Sports company.
